Brian was born in Belfast, N. Ireland, but has been a resident of Guelph for most of his life. After
obtaining a Bachelor's degree from the University of Waterloo (St. Jerome’s College), he graduated
from Osgoode Hall law school in 1970. He articled with a prestigious litigation law firm in Toronto
and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1972. Brian joined the firm in 1989. As one of the firm’s partners,
Brian manages the firm’s family law practice and the firm’s Guelph office. Brian is known for his
exceptional skill in all aspects of family law. He has a reputation for achieving excellent results
while demonstrating concern for his clients’ well being. Former clients are happy to recommend Brian

In addition to his professional activities, Brian has contributed his time to the community as a
past-President of the Guelph and Wellington County United Way Social Planning Council and as a member
of the Community Relations Committee of the Guelph and Wellington County Children’s Aid Society.
Brian is also a former member of the bar/bench committee of the Ontario Court of Justice
(Family Division). He also acts as agent for Ontario’s Family Responsibility Office, and has been
selected to serve on the panel of the Public Guardian and Trustee for the Province of Ontario.
Brian is also a member of the Advocates’ Society.
