David is a partner in the firm and the head of SorbaraLaw’s Municipal, Land Use & Development Group. He specializes in advising private and public sector landowners in relation to residential, commercial, industrial, and public sector land use and development issues.

David’s experience includes advising on land acquisitions and dispositions, land use controls, municipal approvals, subdivision and condominium issues, heritage matters, title uncertainties, and expropriation matters. In the course of his practice, he regularly advocates for clients before various land use tribunals, including the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (formerly the Ontario Municipal Board) and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

David is a member of the Ontario Expropriation Association, the International Right of Way Association, and the Urban Land Institute. He also chairs the Regional and Municipal Affairs Committee of the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce and is a former Board member  of Supportive Housing of Waterloo (2013-17).
