Emily joins Sorbara Law as one of its 2022 Articling Students.

Emily obtained a law degree from the University of Western Ontario while employed full-time on the executive team of Covalon Technologies Ltd. (TSXV: COV), a $67M advanced medical technologies company. She served as the Executive Assistant to the CEO at Covalon for almost five years. In this role, she provided corporate, legal, and administrative support with matters relating to corporate law, securities regulation, employment law, corporate governance, and more. While in her final year of law school, she was part of the small team of that closed the US$30M sale of one of Covalon’s product lines.

Prior to her employment at Covalon, Emily was a professional classical musician, playing flute, harp, and piano. She also ran a small business facilitating musician hiring, performance coordination, and contract negotiation for a roster of around 75 musicians. Emily holds an Artist Diploma (Masters equivalent) in flute performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Glenn Gould School and a Bachelor of Music with Honours (Performance) in flute and harp from the University of Western Ontario.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys making music with her husband and her friends, cuddling her dog Apollo, and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
