Lisa is a partner of the firm and the leader of its Wills, Estates and Trusts Group. Her broad experience in over twenty years of practice means that she is uniquely positioned to provide the best possible advice and representation in all matters relating to wills, trusts and estates, whether at the planning stage, the administration stage or during litigation.

Lisa previously worked as a tax and estate planning lawyer for large financial institutions, and has counseled many private clients, as well as their advisors on complex matters involving wills, trusts, and estates. Lisa’s clients value her ability to deconstruct complicated estate planning issues to produce pragmatic solutions.

SorbaraLaw’s clients rely on her ability to navigate through difficult legal and financial issues to achieve their estate planning goals. Her experience in family law enables Lisa to recognize and resolve the sometimes delicate issues that can arise in estate planning for blended families, while her work in the insurance and financial services industries ensures that the estate plan addresses all areas of a client’s financial well-being.

A certified mediator and trained in the collaborative process of dispute resolution, Lisa is a strong proponent of negotiated solutions to conflicts between parties. However, when it is necessary, Lisa is a skilled litigator and has effectively protected her clients’ interests at every level of court in Ontario.

Lisa is an active member of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association, having served on the Executive and various sub-committees since 2014, and is proud to have been a member of the committee for the formation of an Elder Law Section in 2017.
