Susan Liu joined Sorbara, Schumacher, McCann LLP on July 2, 2008 after practicing law in China for over 11 years. Susan also gained experience practicing law in the United States where she obtained an Honours LL.M in International and Comparative Law in 2007 from Indiana University School of Law. Susan was called to the Bar of Ontario in January 2012 after completion of all the subjects of National Committee on Accreditation for foreign-trained lawyer from the University of Toronto.
Susan has worked in all areas of Chinese domestic law applicable to the trade f goods, services and technology, including mergers and acquisitions, trade remedies, customs laws and international investments. She developed extensive experience in international trade law and international investment including state- to-state negotiations, trade policy, and investment strategies.
Susan will continue working in her areas of specialty by assisting the firm’s clients in all aspects of corporate/commercial law and international business transactions, with a particular specialty in helping Chinese individuals and businesses located and succeed in Canada and assisting Canadian business expand into China.
Susan is a member of Law Society of Ontario and is also our firm’s leading business immigration lawyer, assisting our clients with intra-company transfer, Ontario human capital, employer job offer, entrepreneur streams, temporary and permanent immigration applications, and other complex immigration issues that can arise for companies expanding their businesses internationally or participating in mergers and acquisitions.
