Jide Babalola is a corporate and commercial lawyer based in the firm’s Waterloo office. He advises businesses, lenders, and investors on commercial financing, business purchases and sales, contract negotiation, and not-for-profit matters, with additional experience supporting cross-border transactions in emerging markets.

Jide works closely with clients to structure and close financing arrangements, negotiate commercial agreements, and manage legal and regulatory risks in complex transactions. He is known for delivering practical, business-focused solutions that help clients complete transactions efficiently and with confidence.

Before joining the firm, Jide practised for more than 13 years at a leading corporate and commercial law firm in Nigeria, where he advised on high-value domestic and cross-border transactions across a range of sectors, including banking, energy, and manufacturing. He has been recognized by The Legal 500 as a “Rising Star” in Banking and Finance (Nigeria).

Jide holds a law degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and is qualified to practise law in Ontario and Nigeria. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, photography, following soccer, and watching biographical films and documentaries.
