Emily Hives is an associate lawyer in the SorbaraLAW Litigation Group and practices mainly out of the Guelph office.

Her practice focuses on a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including real estate disputes, power of sale proceedings, construction disputes and various other contractual disputes. She also has a particular interest in employment law, and assists both employees and employers with all types of matters including wrongful dismissal and human rights claims. She also provides proactive guidance to employers before disputes arise.

Emily is a staunch advocate for her clients and has strong legal research and writing skills which she honed during her judicial clerkship with the judges of the Ontario Superior Court and her years of subsequent legal practice. She focuses on providing practical, strategic advice and strongly protects clients’ interests while thoughtfully guiding them through the
litigation process.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, cooking new recipes, and reading.
