Originally from Europe with a German-Belgian heritage, Bernd-Andre (Andre) has been a resident of Waterloo Region since age five. He graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1967 with a B.A. in Economics, and then obtained a Jur.D. degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto in 1970. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1972.

Prior to joining SorbaraLaw, Andre was a long-time partner in the Kitchener law firm Ludwig, Lichtenheldt & Eby. He is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Waterloo Law Association.

Andre practices in a wide range of areas, including: commercial and residential real estate; wills, estates and powers of attorney; residential and commercial landlord and tenant matters; and corporate-commercial transactions, including incorporations, restructuring, and purchases and sales of businesses. Having spent many years as a partner in a successful small firm, Andre appreciates the increased breadth of services and practice areas available to his clients through SorbaraLaw.

Throughout his career, Andre has made a point of helping to promote the study and understanding of the law by delivering lectures to real estate organizations, church groups and schools. He has spoken often on such topics as real estate law and wills and estates.

In addition to providing legal services in English, Andre can converse fluently in German and has serviced many German-speaking clients through his career. We are pleased that Andre is able to provide legal services to the large German population in Waterloo Region.

Andre retired from the practice of law in 2019.
