Gary is a life-long resident of Waterloo Region. Gary operated several of his own businesses in the Kitchener-Waterloo area before enrolling at Wilfrid Laurier University in the Honours Business Program in 1977. In one of his earlier lives, he was also a real estate agent. From 1979 to 1982, Gary attended the University of Western Ontario where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree. Gary joined the firm in 1986 and has since been involved in real estate, commercial law, mortgage financing and mortgage recovery work, and wills and estate administration matters.

Gary has lectured in Real Estate law at Conestoga College for the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Kitchener-Waterloo.

Gary enjoys spending time at the family cottage in Port Elgin and motorcycling.
